Under the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 and Order IV, no advocate other than an Advocate-on-Record (AoR) is entitled to file an appearance, act, or represent a litigant in the Supreme Court of India.
An AoR undergoes rigorous qualification administered directly by the Supreme Court examination board, maintaining registered offices within 16 kilometers of the Supreme Court premises and employing certified registered clerks for daily registry scrutiny.
